DMITRE's Mineral Resources Division considers applications from secondary school students wanting to undertake work experience in the geosciences. Successful applicants are provided with a variety of hands-on experiences including field, laboratory and office components of geoscientific work. Applicants should contact the Mineral Resources Division Education Services Officer in writing at least one term before the expected school release time, stating reasons why they have chosen this vocational area. Include all contact details. | |

Geosciences Summer School | |
|
The inaugural Geosciences Summer School, funded by DMITRE's Resources and Energy Group under the South Australian Government's PACE 2020 initiative and by industry sponsors took place from 7-18 January 2013. Lectures, practicals and fieldwork included topics covering geology, mapping rock formations, mineral and energy resources exploration methods and mining engineering. Students with an interest in geosciences and who will be studying science and mathematics in year 10, 11 or 12 in 2013 were invited to apply.
