More about using SARIG

The Flinders Zinc Project comprises the Beltana zinc mine and several nearby satellite deposits within 15 km of Beltana.

This project comprises intermediate to high-grade zinc silicate deposits suitable for direct shipping (currently to smelters in Asia). The total resource for the entire project is 972 000 t at 29.8% Zn and 21% Pb (Perilya Limited 2007 Concise Annual Report p. 13).

Mining operations were completed at the Beltana Mine in late January 2008, ahead of schedule and under budget. Production for the short campaign totalled 316 400 t of zinc silicate producing 101 385 t of contained zinc, a much higher volume than initially proposed as a suitable market was found for lower grade ore. Two shipments to Chinese customers occurred in late 2007.

Crushing and assaying of remaining ore will be completed in February and sales of ore stocks will continue over the next two to three years. Perilya has signed a two-year off-take agreement with Padaeng Industry Public Company Ltd for 60 000 t of high-grade and 50 000 t of low-grade ore, with shipments to commence in February 2008.

On-track loading and rail transporting to Port Pirie is expected to commence in March, significantly reducing transport costs.

The Flinders Zinc Project is now focused on the development of the nearby Reliance deposit and other satellite deposits, with a feasibility study to be completed in the second half of 2008. The current resource for Reliance is 387 000 t at 27.6% Zn (106 000 t of contained zinc). Current resource drilling has provided excellent results with best drillhole BTD473 intersecting 79 m at 35.3% Zn, including 45 m at 40% Zn. Further encouraging results include 17 m at 34.9% Zn from 22 m depth and 11 m at 34.8% Zn from just 17 m downhole. These results allow planning for a shallow starter pit and an expected upgraded resource in June 2008.
