IMX's Cairn Hill Magnetite-Copper-Gold project is 55 km south of Coober Pedy, 16 km from the Stuart Highway and 90 km from the Wirrida Siding on the Tarcoola to Alice Springs Railway.
In December 2007 IMX Resources signed a Heads of Agreement with Jilin Tonghua Iron and Steel (Group) Mining Company Ltd (Tonghua Mining). Tonghua has invested $13.93m for 16.394 million shares (9.99%) in IMX and will purchase 100% of production for an initial three-year period.
The Cairn Hill ore bodies occur within deformed Palaeoproterozoic iron-rich sediments in the Mount Woods Inlier in the northern Gawler Craton.
