Historical mineral drillhole documents now available via SARIG

As part of the PACE Global Data Pathways initiative historical mineral drillhole data is now available with the SA Geodata Database Drillhole Detail available via SARIG.

The Historical Documents tab displays thumbnails of scanned historical documents for mineral class drillholes - click on the thumbnail image to view the document.

New download format for NGMA Cooper-Eromanga Basin layers

A new additional download option, the Petrosys Data Package, has been added to the NGMA Cooper-Eromanga Basin depth, isopach and time images SARIG map layers.

The Petrosys Data Package contains a compilation of file formats used for PETROSYS (petroleum exploration and production software).

Exploration Release Areas are shown in a new layer in SARIG - go to the Map Layer widget, under the Data tab expand Mineral Exploration Areas and select Released (Mineral ERAs).

SARIG currently unavailable

The interactive map layers in the SARIG application are currently not available due to technical difficulties. Our IT team are working on the problem and we will advise you as soon as we have an update.

Documents and reports can still be downloaded from the Publications Database.

SARIG outage extension

The planned outage for the SARIG application has been extended. The application will now be unavailable from 18:00 hours Friday 27 April until 06:00 hours Sunday 29 April Australian Central Standard Time.

SARIG outage 27-28 April 2012

The SARIG application will be unavailable between the hours of 18:00 Friday 27 April until 16:30 hours on Saturday 28 April due to essential maintenance and testing of electrical equipment.

Mineral exploration release areas

Following amendments to the Mining Act 1971 that came into force in July 2011, expired, partially surrendered, surrendered or cancelled exploration licence areas may be released for application. A new map layer in SARIG shows pending mineral release exploration areas (ERAs).

State Geophysical Images ERS downloads

State Geophysical Images can now be downloaded in ERS format as well as TIFF.

To access right click the image map layer, select the download button. Click OK to accept DMITRE's Spatial Data Terms and Conditions, choose required format (TIFF or ERS) and click download.

Group headings for Mineral Tenements map layer have changed

The Mineral Tenements map layer group headings have changed from Active and Non Active to Mineral Exploration and Mineral Production.

Non Active Tenement map layers are now named Historic Tenements and are located under the appropriate Mineral Tenement (Exploration or Production) group heading.

The Production Tenement layer is now displayed as new multiple map layers, separated by Tenement Type:

Mineral Claims (MC)
Mineral Leases (ML)
Olympic Dam SML
Extractive Mineral Leases (EML)
Private Mines (PM)
Miscellaneous Purposes Licences (MPL)
Retention Leases (RL)
